Doch welche Vorteile bietet dieses Verfahren, und was passiert dabei genau? Bevor wir diese Frage beantworten, sollten wir uns einige akustische Grundlagen ins Ged\u00e4chtnis rufen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Schallwellenl\u00e4nge<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Erinnern wir uns zun\u00e4chst an die Definition der Schallgeschwindigkeit C (auf Meeresh\u00f6he, bei 21\u00b0 C \/ 70\u00b0 F, unter normalen atmosph\u00e4rischen Bedingungen). Sie ist definiert als C = f \u03bb, wobei f die Frequenz und \u03bb die Wellenl\u00e4nge bezeichnet, und betr\u00e4gt 344 m\/s (1128 ft\/s).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Was ist nun die Wellenl\u00e4nge? In der Physik bezeichnet die Wellenl\u00e4nge die r\u00e4umliche Ausdehnung einer periodischen Schwingung, also die Distanz, innerhalb derer sich die Wellenform wiederholt. Sie ist die Distanz zwischen aufeinanderfolgenden, \u00fcbereinstimmenden Punkten der gleichen Phase der Welle, wie zum Beispiel zwei aufeinanderfolgende Wellenk\u00e4mme, Wellent\u00e4ler oder Nulldurchg\u00e4nge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When a sound propagates through air, the air is compressed or rarefied in waves that travel out from the audio source. When those compressed or rarified areas of air hit your eardrum, it vibrates in sympathy with those compression waves in the air and allows you to hear. In diesem Artikel konzentrieren wir uns auf die gegenseitigen Kopplungseffekte zwischen Tieft\u00f6nern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gegenseitige Kopplung tritt auf, wenn zwei oder mehr nahe beieinanderliegende Lautsprecher dasselbe Signal in dieselbe Richtung abstrahlen und die Wellenl\u00e4nge dieses Signals kleiner als der Abstand zwischen ihren akustischen Zentren ist. In diesem Fall breitet sich der kombinierte Schalldruck wie eine einzige Schwingung nach vorn aus \u2013 quasi so, als w\u00fcrden sich die einzelnen Lautsprecher nun wie ein gr\u00f6\u00dferer verhalten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Bei zwei Lautsprechern gilt das Prinzip, dass ihre akustischen Zentren nahe beieinander liegen m\u00fcssen: zwischen einem Viertel und der H\u00e4lfte der Wellenl\u00e4nge der wiedergegebenen Frequenz. Wenn wir zwei Lautsprecher nebeneinander aufstellen und der Abstand gr\u00f6\u00dfer als die halbe Wellenl\u00e4nge der wiedergegebenen Frequenz ist, vergr\u00f6\u00dfert sich der durchschnittliche On- und Off-axis-Schalldruck um 3 dB (Verdoppelung der Leistung). Ist der Abstand zwischen beiden Lautsprechern klein genug f\u00fcr die gegenseitige Kopplung, vergr\u00f6\u00dfert sich der gemessene Schalldruck um 6 dB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Die Vorteile ausnutzen<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Betrachten wir das oben beschriebene Ph\u00e4nomen anhand der technischen Daten eines aktiven QSC KS118 Subwoofers. Sein \u00dcbertragungsbereich (-6 dB) reicht von 41 Hz bis 98 Hz. Wie bereits erw\u00e4hnt, m\u00fcssen wir zur Berechnung der k\u00fcrzesten Wellenl\u00e4nge (mittels der Formel C = f \u03bb) die h\u00f6chste Frequenz ber\u00fccksichtigen, die der Subwoofer wiedergeben kann.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Halbe Wellenl\u00e4nge bei 98 Hz = 1,75 m<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daraus folgt, dass ein gegenseitiger Kopplungseffekt mit einer Steigerung des Ausgangspegels um 6 dB erreicht wird, wenn zwei KS118 Subwoofer in einem Abstand von weniger als 1,75 m zwischen ihren akustischen Zentren aufgestellt werden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Fazit<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ihr seht, dass sich der gegenseitige Kopplungseffekt bei Subwoofern relativ einfach ausnutzen l\u00e4sst, da sie problemlos in Entfernungen voneinander aufgestellt werden k\u00f6nnen, die deutlich geringer als die halbe Wellenl\u00e4nge der h\u00f6chsten reproduzierbaren Frequenz sind. So l\u00e4sst sich auch mit wenigen Subwoofern ein hoher Schalldruck bei tiefen Frequenzen erzielen. Und das ist auch der Grund, warum PA-Techniker bei Tourneen, Produktionen und anderen Veranstaltungen ihre Subwoofer gerne in einem geringen Abstand zueinander positionieren.
