All four stages at second annual event at the Oceanside Civic Center in San Diego equipped with L Class and K Class loudspeakers under the direction of production manager Bryan Prusiensky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The recent second annual Sublime Life Sobriety Festival at the Oceanside Civic Center in San Diego, an event celebrating the legacy of the band Sublime, which was impacted by the death of its lead singer, Bradley Nowell, due to a drug overdose, was supported by sound reinforcement systems headed by QSC L Class and K Class loudspeakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To help other artists struggling with addiction by providing a sober living environment, the Nowell family started the \u201cBradley House\u201d project, ultimately leading to the festival\u2019s creation. Bryan Prusiensky manages production and configures sound systems for the event, and he\u2019s been familiar with QSC for several years as a musician, audio engineer, and owner of Tape Heads Audio, an audio production company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re focused on good energy, a clear message, and creating a positive, intentional atmosphere for the festival attendees through the transformative power of live music,\u201d Prusiensky says. With 18,000 attendees and four stages to coordinate, the logistical demands of the festival were challenging. Prusiensky oversaw production logistics, including planning power distribution, managing load-in and load-out schedules, coordinating crew operations, and acquiring the right gear based on the stage plots and input lists provided by the artists. He was also responsible for real-time stage management and on-site troubleshooting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prusiensky used QSC loudspeakers for the inaugural festival and he decided to \u201cgo even bigger\u201d for 2025. \u201cLast year, I didn\u2019t know what to expect,\u201d he explains. \u201cWe doubled the coverage and flew the system this year. We\u2019re delivering more coverage, more power, and better clarity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most significant change was the transition at Stage One from a traditional left-right ground-stacked PA system to a flown line array, which improved coverage and fidelity across a larger venue footprint. Specifically, Stage One was outfitted with 12 QSC L Class LA112 powered line array loudspeakers \u2014 six per side \u2014 paired with 10 KS118 powered subwoofers for low-end reinforcement and seven K12.2 powered loudspeakers for stage monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stage Two was equipped with a compact system utilizing four KLA12 powered line array loudspeakers (two per side) for mains, four KS118 powered subwoofers (two per side), and five K12.2 powered loudspeakers to cover all monitoring needs. Setup Three supported stripped-down acoustic sessions at the vendor booth with a single KC12 \u201cK Column\u201d PA system. Setup Four, a small activation area, also relied on an additional KC12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe QSC systems are so light and easy to rig,\u201d says Prusiensky. \u201cWe knew that if we had to add more of something, we could just scale efficiently as needed. That also made load in and load out easier and faster.\u201d Having recently embraced alcohol sobriety, he views the event as a valuable platform: \u201cIt\u2019s a conscious crowd, and that resonates for me.
