Jam in the Van – How They Use TouchMix-30 Pro

A typical recording day with Jam in the Van consists of ten bands recording three songs each, at a music festival, state park or just about anywhere in the USA.

Jam in the Van is a solar-powered recording studio on wheels producing over 200 new music sessions each year with the TouchMix-30 Pro.

During a recording day, the TouchMix-30 Pro is used as the multi-track computer recording interface for tracking. It also provides monitor mixes to the band through K10.2 powered loudspeakers, and sends a live mix of the recording out of a pair of K12.2‘s and KS212C cardioid subwoofers to fans outside watching the session on a video wall mounted on the van.

“The TouchMix-30 Pro is rock-solid and extremely powerful,” says Jack Higgins, Creative Director of Jam in the Van.  “It completely saved a session for us.  Our computer actually died at the beginning of a session where we had ten bands lined up to record.  We connected a hard drive directly to the TouchMix and multi-track recorded without the computer that day, and imported the tracks later. That was a life saver.”

“There was a noticeable improvement in sound quality from our previous system,” said David Bell, co-founder of Jam in the Van.  “We love the TouchMix.”

Jam in the Van recently created a video for us showing how they use their TouchMix-30 Pro.
