Music Bliss, QSC’s authorized distributor in Malaysia recently completed a new sound system design and installation at Mò Live House, one of Malaysia’s hot spots in Johor Bahru. Kok Khen, Business Development Manager for Music Bliss shares details about the project.
Project Overview
Our client approached us with the goal of creating a vibrant live house environment that could host both live band performances and DJ sets for Mò Live House, in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The system was designed and integrated by Onyx Sound Project Consultants Sdn. Bhd., working closely with Music Bliss.
Through this collaboration, the team was able to deliver a sound system that meets the venue’s requirements for power, clarity, and consistent coverage, helping the venue provide an exceptional live entertainment experience.
The venue was designed to deliver an energetic nightlife experience where guests can enjoy high-quality live music and DJ performances in a dynamic atmosphere. Because of this concept, the audio system needed to deliver high output, excellent clarity, and consistent coverage throughout the venue, ensuring that every guest enjoys the same impactful sound experience regardless of where they are in the space.
Why QSC?
QSC has long been known in the professional audio industry for its reliability, consistent performance, and high-quality sound reproduction. These factors made it a strong candidate for a venue that requires dependable performance night after night.
Another key factor was the strong local support from Music Bliss.
Before finalizing the system design, Music Bliss arranged a live demonstration of the QSC L Class powered line array system for the client. After experiencing the system firsthand, the client was highly impressed with the clarity, power, and overall performance, which gave them the confidence to move forward with QSC for the installation.
One of the advantages of the L Class system is its efficient setup and configuration process, which allowed the installation to be completed smoothly without requiring excessive setup time.
Additionally, using QSC AWARE, we were able to determine the optimal array angles and coverage pattern, ensuring that sound is evenly distributed throughout the venue. This helps maintain a consistent listening experience across different seating areas, including the balcony and mezzanine levels.
The installed QSC system:
8 × QSC LA112 powered line array loudspeakers (4 per side – Front of House)
4 × QSC LS118 subwoofers (2 per side)
2 × QSC K10.2 loudspeakers (under balcony fill)
1 × QSC K12.2 loudspeaker (mezzanine fill)
The LA112 line array loudspeakers were selected as the main front-of-house solution due to its ability to deliver high output, controlled directivity, and exceptional vocal clarity, which are critical for live band performances.
To support the energy required for both live music and DJ sets, the LS118 subwoofers provide powerful and tight low-frequency reinforcement, delivering the impactful bass response needed for modern music genres.
The K10.2 and K12.2 speakers serve as fill speakers to maintain consistent sound coverage in areas such as under the balcony and the mezzanine, ensuring that guests throughout the venue experience balanced and clear audio.
Result
The client has been very satisfied with the system’s overall performance, particularly the punchy low-frequency response and clear vocal reproduction, which are essential for both live band performances and DJ sets.
One feature that stands out is the Deep preset on the LS118 subwoofers. This preset delivers deeper and more powerful bass extension, which significantly enhances DJ performances and helps create a more immersive and energetic atmosphere for the audience.
