Aus Fehlern lernt man manchmal einfach am besten. Die Ausbildung professioneller Mitarbeiter für die Planung von Kinos, einschließlich der Sound- und Projektionssysteme, kostet viel Zeit und Energie. Dabei können wir in vielen Fällen aus unseren Fehlern aufschlussreiche Erkenntnisse ziehen.
In den 30 Jahren, in denen ich nun schon in der Kinobranche bin, habe ich enorm viel von THX, Dolby sowie von Hollywood-Post-Producern und den großartigen Tontechnikern gelernt, mit denen ich arbeiten durfte.
Eine meiner Aufgaben ist es, dieses Wissen in die Praxis umzusetzen, um den Transfer eines Films von der nahezu perfekten Umgebung der Dub-Stage in die etwas weniger perfekte, reale Welt des Kinosaals zu optimieren und letztlich die Qualität des Kinoerlebnisses für die Besucher zu intensivieren.
Das heutige Kino liefert eine deutlich bessere Klang- und Bildqualität als zu Beginn meiner Laufbahn. Es gibt aber auch leider viele kleine „Stolperfallen“, die zu einem Erlebnis führen können, das unter der Norm liegt.
Ich kann die Gründe ja nachvollziehen: Immobilien und die Ausstattung eines Kinos sind kostspielig und eine Modernisierung ist sogar mit noch höheren Kosten verbunden. Mit neuen Best Practices Schritt zu halten, verbietet sich oft aufgrund der Kosten und ist manchmal schwer zu begründen, vor allem, wenn der Saal nicht primär zum Gewinn beiträgt (wie z.B. sagen wir mal, die Snack-Theke).
Versuchen Sie, diese "Sünden" zu vermeiden
Trotz allem ist es immer noch der Film, wegen dem die Zuschauer ins Kino kommen. Und wenn das Erlebnis nicht ganz so gelungen ist, kommen sie womöglich nicht wieder. Im Namen besserer Kinoerlebnisse kommen daher hier meine sieben „Sünden“ bei der Planung von Kinos:
- Die Höhenausrichtung des Projektor-Fensters liegt über dem oberen Leinwandrand. Dies kann zu einer perspektivischen Bildverzerrung und anderen Problemen führen.
- Ein hell leuchtendes Ausgang-Hinweisschild direkt neben der Leinwand. Das Schild kann leicht von dem Geschehen auf der Leinwand ablenken.
- Harte, gestrichene Seitenwände und ein Betonboden direkt vor dem Bildschirm. Hierdurch entstehen Schallreflexionen, die die Sprachverständlichkeit bei Dialogen negativ beeinträchtigen.
- Der Mittelgang. Die besten Plätze werden ausgelassen, sodass niemand eine optimale Links/Rechts-Stereoabbildung hört.
(4a. Mittelgänge führen oft dazu, dass die Sitzplätze komplett bis an die Wände reichen. Sitze, die sich direkt unter den seitlichen Surround-Wandlautsprechern befinden, liegen komplett außerhalb des klanglich erwünschten Abstrahlverhaltens. Seitengänge sind besser!) - Eine direkte Eingangstür auf der Rückseite des Raums ohne Foyer erlaubt das Eindringen von Licht und Geräuschen aus der Halle. Dies kann störend wirken, z.B. wenn Nachzügler den Kinosaal betreten.
- Durchdringender Schall angrenzender Kinos. Auch dies kann störend (und nervig) sein, vor allem in Filmszenen mit leisen Dialogen.
- Veraltete Tonanlagen und PA. Sollten diese älter als 15 bis 20 Jahre sein, liefern sie möglicherweise nicht die Dynamik heutiger digitaler Soundtracks. Selbst, wenn die Anlagen nicht defekt sind, sollte eine Erneuerung in Betracht gezogen werden.
Diese Situation gibt es weitaus öfter, als man denkt. Ob Sie es glauben oder nicht, aber ich war erst vor kurzem in einem Kino, bei dem ALLE sieben “Sünden” im gleichen Saal vorlagen. Und ganz ehrlich, es gibt deutlich mehr als sieben...
Was können wir also machen?
- Als Kinoplaner: Aufpassen und diese Sünden in zukünftigen Projekten vermeiden.
- Als Kinogänger: Beim nächsten Kinobesuch zählen, wie viele der Sünden auszumachen sind, und, falls Sie mutig genug sind, diese der Kinoleitung melden.
- Als Kinobetreiber: Ihre “Sünden” bekennen und bereuen. Die Probleme dann beheben, um so Ihre Kunden glücklich und loyal zu halten.
