Introducing Space Manager: A Smarter, Unified View of Your AV Ecosystem

Today, my team and I are excited to unveil Space Manager, the first feature release in Q-SYS Reflect’s new Data & Reports suite. Space Manager includes new space visualization features, including hierarchy views and geospatial map views—bringing a whole new level of clarity and control to your systems managed in Reflect.

If you attended Activate on May 14, you heard about our adoption of a standards-based space ontology —a way to define and organize physical systems in a consistent, interoperable model and translate them into a digital model, as well as providing structure for the associated data.

We’re leveraging the RealEstateCore (REC) ontology, which advocates that “property owners use REC to describe the data of interaction within the buildings that they operate – as well as the management, storage, and sharing of this data.” Let’s dig into what all this means for Reflect and you.

A Logical Hierarchy of Spaces and Systems

Available to all Reflect subscribers, Space Manager enables users to manage a hierarchy of spaces and their relationships. This includes creating and managing entities such as region, site, building, level, room, and zone, as well as outdoor space. Reflect admins can configure and manage spaces following a standardized hierarchy so they can accurately model their real estate and assets logically and improve operational oversight.

Visualize Your AV Systems Like Never Before

The Map View in Space Manager is a geospatial representation of physical locations, supporting status rollups and interactive navigation. Using a familiar map experience (think Google maps), users can zoom into regions, see clusters of systems, and get a real-time rollup of their status. You can navigate intuitively across regions, sites, and buildings, with markers that give quick summaries of system status.

A Leap Forward in AV and Workplace Technology Integration

Our new system and site visualization features, enabled by leveraging the REC ontology, represent a significant leap forward in how IT and AV managers, facility managers, and consultants can monitor, manage, and optimize AV estates as part of the broader technology environment.

This evolution is aimed at eventually supporting the integration of AV technology with workplace management systems, including space management, room booking, and hot desking solutions. A common ontology such as REC facilitates data sharing and simplifies API integration, making it easier to connect AV systems with broader workplace platforms.

Looking Ahead

This is just the beginning. Following our Data & Reports suite, Reflect is evolving rapidly, with powerful new capabilities in monitoring, management and analytics on the horizon. Looking ahead, you can expect a steady cadence of releases—each one designed to help you unlock more value from your AV infrastructure and reimagine what’s possible in your built spaces.

Whether you’re building out a smart campus, optimizing a hybrid workplace, or scaling a global AV network, Reflect will continue to deliver the tools you need to see more, know more, and do more—from the cloud.
