Helena Holleran is a singer-songwriter and guitarist based in San Diego, CA. She’s been performing professionally for the past eight years. Music is her my full-time work, and she plays a wide range of events including hotel lobbies, corporate gatherings, private parties, music venues, and festivals. Most often she performs solo, but she also brings in additional accompaniment depending on the event and budget. Her favorite shows are with her seven-piece band. Stylistically, her music spans the realms of jazz, R&B, folk, bossa nova, and world influences, blending genres and creating something unique for every audience.

We recently caught up with Helena with a few questions about the QSC gear that she uses.
What QSC products do you use?
I’ve relied on the TouchMix-8 for years because it’s the most versatile and dependable mixer I’ve ever used. Its touchscreen interface makes it easy to load a preset for my electric guitar, giving me full control over EQ and reverb in every unique space while keeping the sound balanced and consistent.
For speakers, I originally used the K12.2 as my main and the K10.2 as a monitor, but I’ve since switched to the K Column (KC12) as my primary system — and it’s been a game-changer. The KC12 has made my setup sleeker, clearer, and more dynamic. It pairs beautifully with my semi-hollow body guitar, allowing every subtle nuance to shine without getting lost at different volume levels or in challenging rooms. I’ve even powered a small ensemble — bass, drums, and horns — through the KC12, and every instrument came through with clarity and depth, without sacrificing tone.
Do you have any “favorite features” in your QSC gear?
Three features of the KC12 really stand out to me:
- The ability to roll off up to 20 dB or push the sub into its fullest “deep” mode.
- The impressive 145 degree coverage, which fills a space evenly without overwhelming listeners.
- The built-in Bluetooth, which makes playing break music quick and effortless.
And honestly, I’ve yet to experience any feedback with this system — it feels almost impossible to push it to feedback.

Do you have any gigging tips you can share with other musicians?
My advice would be:
- Always play your best, no matter how small the gig or how many people are listening — every show is part of your 10,000 hours that pays off over time.
- Read the room, stay grateful, and embrace your unique style.
- Never forget why you started making music in the first place.
- Communicate clearly, stay persistent, and take care of your body — stamina matters as a gigging musician.
- And of course, invest in gear you can trust. For me, that’s QSC.
