A few weeks ago, we introduced two brand new cameras to our NC Series portfolio – the NC-90-G2 and NC-Pro15x. The NC-90-G2 is our next-generation ePTZ network camera, building on the success of its predecessor with exciting AI-driven features, while the NC-Pro15x expands Q-SYS into more types of high-impact spaces.
Let’s dive in!
NC-90-G2: Smarter Technology That Brings People Together
A few years ago, we introduced the Q-SYS NC-110 as our first electronic pan, tilt, zoom (ePTZ) camera, designed to capture wide (but not too deep) collaboration spaces that didn’t quite require a more traditional, mechanical PTZ camera. Its compact size made it a great single-camera option for budget-constrained spaces.
Designed for the same room types, the NC-90-G2 retains a similar form factor as the NC-110 (about 20% larger overall), while adding useful new enhancements. An immediately noticeable improvement is delivered by the 20 MP image sensor (compared to 8 MP on the NC-110), which offers more clarity across the 5x digital zoom range.
How about an elevated AI-driven collaboration experience right out of the box?
Active Speaker Framing technology leverages four onboard microphones to automatically locate and digitally frame the active speaker. For those familiar with our VisionSuite Speaker Spotlight solution, the Active Speaker Framing in the NC-90-G2 follows the same general idea, but is intended for a smaller scale, single camera experience where participants are no more than 26 ft / 7.5 m from the camera.
In the experience shown above, the camera starts on a full room shot when no one is speaking. As the first talker is detected, the camera zooms in and keeps that person in frame until the next talker begins to speak. The camera will then dynamically frame the next shot with the last und current talker to provide visual context to the remote participants before switching to properly framed shot of the current talker after the user-adjustable ‘Active Speaker Framing Hold Time’ has elapsed.
Finally, it’s reinforced with full-body analysis that ensures talkers stay framed even if they turn their back to the camera.
Tile View enables a composited view of up to nine participants from a single camera stream, ensuring a more natural meeting experience for all in-room participants. Users also have the option of adding a full room view with up to seven additional tiles. If ten or more people are in the room, no problem! The camera will default to full room view automatically.
NC-Pro15x: Go Beyond
Der Q-SYS NC-Pro15x is a network PTZ camera that opens new possibilities for Q-SYS in high-impact spaces. Think of live streaming an all-hands space that hosts organization-wide ‘town hall’ events or a guest speaker in an auditorium / lecture hall. Those events usually need production-grade equipment and technical operators for a more “produced” experience.
We chose to work with Canon, who built NC-Pro15x specifically for Q-SYS, because of their best-in-class imaging capabilities that pair perfectly with the power of Q-SYS to enable high-impact spaces serving multiple uses cases, from self-serve hybrid collaboration, such as day-to-day meetings and presentations, to operator-led event hosting, enabled (of course!) by the platform’s built-in control engine.
It has a feature-set that you’d expect from a camera of this caliber, including a 1-inch image sensor that will offer wide dynamic range and optimal low-light performance along with onboard Canon image processing that lets you fine tune the image to the needs of each space.
Further, the built-in Neutral Density filter also provides more adjustment over how much light enters the lens, which can be useful for a presenter in front of an LED screen. And speaking of which, the NC-Pro15x offers gen-lock, which helps to eliminate flickering artifacts on that screen behind your presenter along with syncing to the rest of your video production equipment.
To add even more icing to the cake, the NC-Pro15x allows for optional HDMI, SDI and NDI | HX outputs which can be run simultaneously alongside the Q-SYS environment, which allows for integration with said video production equipment (a common requirement for those operator-led events).
Best of all, it is a fully native Q-SYS camera enabling you to deliver a truly unique Q-SYS experience.
