Farewell Asset Manager, Hello Q-SYS Library

At Activate this October, we delivered a heart-felt eulogy and a fond farewell to Asset Manager. It was a great tool in its time, helping users find and manage third-party integrations within Q-SYS Designer. But as our Ecosystem grew, Asset Manager began to show its limitations. It became slower, less stable, and increasingly difficult to navigate. We needed a solution that could evolve with our platform and meet the growing demands of our users.

That’s why we built Q-SYS Library.

Listening to Our Users

As we explored what a better solution might look like, we turned to our users. Some common themes emerged:

  • “It’d be great to see a list of assets without opening Q-SYS Designer Software.”
  • “I wish I could manage my own assets alongside Q-SYS assets.”

These insights helped us identify three key areas for improvement:

  1. Speed & Stability: Asset Manager slowed down as more assets were added and occasionally caused Q-SYS Designer Software to crash.
  1. Content & Searchability: Users wanted more asset types and easier ways to find and learn about them.
  1. Personalization: Users wanted to manage their own assets alongside official ones, with clearer guidance on supported solutions.

Looking Beyond AV

To solve these challenges, we looked outside the AV industry. We studied how modern software platforms deliver assets—often through cloud-based systems that offer speed, flexibility, and accessibility. This inspired us to create a hybrid solution: a cloud-connected tool for browsing and managing assets, with integrated installation within Q-SYS Designer Software.

We also introduced QSC ID-based access, enabling personalized experiences and unlocking new user segments who may not have Q-SYS Designer Software installed but still want to explore available assets.

Building Q-SYS Library

Q-SYS Library is designed to work in tandem with Q-SYS Designer Software, offering a scalable, reliable, and user-friendly way to discover and manage assets.

It’s not just a replacement—it’s a reimagining. Q-SYS Library offers:

  • A modern, cloud-based interface
  • Faster performance and improved stability
  • Enhanced search and filtering
  • Support for both Q-SYS and personal assets
  • Clearer guidance on supported solutions with “Q-SYS Verified” assets

Was kommt als nächstes?

With the launch of Q-SYS Designer Software v10.1, Q-SYS Library is now live. And this is just the beginning. We’ll continue to iterate, refine, and improve based on your feedback. We’re excited for you to explore Q-SYS Library and see how it transforms the way you work with the Q-SYS Ecosystem.

Check it out!
